But what&#039;s truly problematic in this case is believing that only two options exist.  Companies worry about being associated with an image like this because we&#039;re creating a climate of intolerance.  We&#039;re allowing the country to become so polarized that people who disagree can&#039;t even see that the other side occasionally has a point.

And so, when somebody says something we don&#039;t agree with, our worst reflexes come out immediately.  We jump to conclusions.  We call something &quot;moronic&quot; instead of rebutting its logic.

You&#039;ll note that my post said nothing concerning a remedy.  What I&#039;m deploring here doesn&#039;t have an easy remedy other than tolerance -- which, after all, is the core value we&#039;re protecting in the First Amendment.
