If you're interested in recommmendations, the best Iain Banks novel I've read, by far, is FEERSUM ENDJINN. That was the first one of his that I read, and I was quite blown away by it; none of the others I have read by him, though they are fine books, comes close to ENDJINN. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were different authors.

I'm glad you liked the books. I should point out out that The Sky Road, confusingly enough, is set in an alternate future to The Cassini Division. Myra's decision (which one can be indentified by the words: 'The die cast, the cat dies') sets off a chain of consequences whereby the Solar Union never comes about.

Thanks for clearing that up -- I guess I *wanted* to find continuity between Sky Road and the other books. Thanks for commenting, and thanks for writing a terrific series -- I recommend it to everyone I know who enjoys speculative fiction with political sensibilities.
